UNDP Job Vacancy 2021

Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct substantive research and analysis of human rights issues related to migration, xenophobia, racism and related intolerance in support of the implementation of the MPTF Project on Migration to improve social cohesion and migrant integration in South Africa. Plan and coordinate activities related to OHCHR’s engagement and technical assistance in the implementation of the MPTF project including monitoring and reporting of project activities, undertaking monthly monitoring and support visits to pilot communities, for discussions with the authorities and affected populations.

Eligibility criteria:

Education:

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in human rights, political affairs, international relations, law or related area is required. Experience on working on issues of migration, racism, xenophobia and related intolerance is highly desirable. Experience and knowledge of economic, social and cultural rights, equality and non-discrimination and the Sustainable Development Goals and Agenda 2030 is desirable. Prior experience working in an international organization as well as programme management experience is an asset.

Languages:

  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
