Job Purpose and Organizational Context: The Country Program Document (CPD) 2020-2025 was approved in June 2020 by the Executive Board and immediately initiated its implementation. The CPD aims to provide response to the most pressing development challenges of the country, with emphasis on unemployment, poverty and inequality. In other to operationalize these priorities, the country office intervenes through a range of projects covering the programmatic areas of Nature, Climate and Energy, Inclusive and Sustainable Growth, and Transformative Governance. With the new CPD, UNDP’s footprint in South Africa is expanding and hence, increasingly requires oversight, analysis and responsiveness for social and environmental safeguards, innovation and client-oriented solutions.
Eligibility Criteria
Education:
- Completion of Secondary Education is required. Specialized certification in Accounting and Finance
- University Degree in Finance, Business or Public Administration will be given due consideration.
- Professional accounting qualifications from an internationally accredited institute of accountancy will have a distinct advantage
- Longlisted candidates may be required to undergo the appropriate an Accounting and Finance Test (AFT)
Experience:
- Minimum 7 years (Secondary education) or 4 years (with Bachelor degree) of progressively responsible financial management or accounting experience is required,
- Knowledge of programme or project finance desirable.
- Good knowledge of budget control and financial management functions.
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and advance knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems.
- Knowledge of IPSAS and/or IFRS required.
Languages:
- Fluency in English
