AFDB Job Vacancy 2022
Scope of Work:
- Analysis of the constraints to economic diversification and productivity improvement.
- Analysis must encompass three related dimensions of diversification: (i) trade diversification (i.e. exporting new or better products, or to new markets) and (ii) domestic production diversification (i.e. cross-sectoral rebalancing of output, driving the reallocation of resources across industries and within industries between firms to increase total factor productivity), and (iii) enhancement of product quality issues
- Policy attention be paid to four key determinants of successful diversification strategies, which the government and development partners can support through targeted programs. These are: (i) the supply of appropriate incentive frameworks; (ii) investments and policy reforms targeted at reducing production and trade costs; (iii) effective policies to support adjustment and the reallocation of resources towards new activities; and (iv) government interventions directed at specific market, policy, and institutional failures.
- Assess knowledge types needed for the identified sectors, the training and capacity building needs for the economic diversification process.
Qualification & Experience:
- The consultant shall have at least a Master’s degree in International Trade, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, Policy Analysis and Management, Finance or any other related discipline and shall have at least 8 years of proven relevant work experience in an agency with development cooperation orientation and/or an International Organization (World Bank, International Monetary Finance, United Nations Development Programme or other UN Agencies, European Union, etc.) or bilateral aid agency in the design, management (planning and implementation) and the analysis of reports and/or application of results-based monitoring approaches.
