GIZ Job Vacancy 2022
Field of activity: As part of the GIZ management team in Zambia, you will be committed to the successful implementation and external representation of the projects in the water and energy cluster. Leading the project managers in the cluster, ensuring efficient management structures and maintaining trusting relationships with our partners in Zambia and clients in the federal government and the EU are the main focal points of your work.
Zambia is severely affected by climate change. The supply of the population with clean drinking water and adequate sanitation as well as the reliable provision of energy also urgently need to be improved. The country faces the challenge of managing its water resources in a climate-sensitive and sustainable manner on the one hand, and guaranteeing drinking water and sanitation supplies for a growing population on the other. The water and energy cluster supports the Zambian government in achieving its goals in the areas of water and sanitation, water resource management and renewable energies, as well as in the training of specialists in the water and energy sectors. The cluster currently consists of six projects.
Your tasks:
- You are responsible for the successful implementation of the orders in the water and energy cluster in close coordination with our clients
- You will lead the project managers of the cluster according to the company’s understanding of leadership and thereby ensure an appreciative leadership culture
- You are responsible for the overall management of currently six projects from a technical, commercial and administrative point of view
- They ensure open and technically sound communication with all relevant donors
- You are responsible for providing technical advice to clients, including regular reporting on the progress of the project
- You ensure the identification and use of cross-business area synergies and prepare new projects in your cluster
- You are responsible for the further development of the financial and administrative processes in the cluster and ensure the continuous improvement of cross-sectional issues such as knowledge management
- They are responsible for presenting the cluster’s projects and activities to the public
- You represent the cluster to the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the EU delegation and other clients
- You will be responsible for the project “Accelerate Water and Agricultural Resources Efficiency (AWARE)”
Eligibility:
- University degree in environmental or engineering sciences, geography, economics or a comparable relevant field
- Many years of relevant work experience, preferably acquired abroad, in the water sector, including water resource management
- Many years of experience in managing complex projects and programs in development cooperation, preferably abroad
- Distinct experience in the management of large projects abroad with several clients, experience in the management of EU co-financing desirable
- Many years of experience in leading international teams
- In-depth knowledge of the topics of renewable energies, vocational training and adaptation to climate change
- Many years of experience in working with governments and authorities as well as excellent knowledge of working in the political environment
- Commitment, team spirit, reliability, diplomatic skills, gender competence and intercultural understanding
- Ability to think and act strategically and analytically, quick learner and an eye for the essentials
- Fluency in written and spoken German and English
