Under the UNJPSP, the ILO, together with Government and other UN agencies, began providing technical and financial assistance to a selected number of districts (Kafue, Mongu, Mpulungu, Mambwe, Samfya and Lunga) for the development, implementation and evaluation of measures to improve access to social protection benefits and services at district and community level. This was with a view toward developing a consistent but adaptable national model for single-window service (SWS) delivery based upon the lessons learned.

ILO Job Vacancy 2021

Job Purpose: Technical cooperation appointments are not expected to lead to a career in the ILO and they do not carry any expectation of renewal or conversion to any other type of appointment in the Organization. A one-year fixed-term contract will be given. Extensions of technical cooperation contracts are subject to various elements including the following: availability of funds, continuing need of the functions and satisfactory conduct and performance.

Description of Duties :

  • Lead the project timely implementation, monitoring and evaluation through management functions, including provision of technical and administrative supervision to the project team in line with the ILO policy, rules and regulations and according to the final project document and work plan;
  • Contribute to the effective implementation of the project through the technical, efficient and timely execution of tasks in accordance with the policies, values and procedures of the ILO, the strategies of the project and the schedule of activities.
  • Undertake a range of activities to support project staff and national partners with identifying, analysing, interpreting and making recommendations on project activities, in coordination with CO-Lusaka, co-implementing UN agencies in Zambia, and relevant technical units at ILO-HQ including but not limited to the Social Protection Department (SOCPRO).
  • Review, verify and analyse work plans, progress and final reports and other data for clarity, consistency and completeness and monitor the progress of Project activities. Follow-up on delayed documents, clarify information, and answer questions about clearance and processing requirements to support successful completion of agreed activities.

Qualification:

  • Essential: First level university degree in Social Sciences, Public Administration, Social Protection or similar with demonstrated expertise in the relevant technical field and strong knowledge of development issues, particularly in Zambia, is required. An advanced university degree would be an advantage..
  • Desirable: Three years of experience in the field of Social Protection and Public Administration. Experience in project management, supervision, administration and implementation of grant/cooperative agreement requirements (including meeting deadlines, achieving targets, and overseeing the preparation and submission of required reports to the project donor).
