Job Purpose: Zambia is one of the African countries with an unacceptably high burden of under-nutrition. The nutrition status of women, adolescent girls and children raises concerns not only from a macronutrient perspective but also encompasses micronutrient deficiency disorders.
Scope of Work:
- Conducted desk review of existing Health Worker and community MAIYCN counselling training packages, NFNC/MOH review of the packages, global guidance and come up with gaps and an outline of the new package
- Present the outline to key stakeholders including MoH, NFNC, MAIYCN Master Trainers, and the MOH Nutrition Technical Working Group for comments.
- Revise the Health Worker and Community MAIYCN counselling training package based on feedback from wider consultations.
- Work with Chief Nutrition Officer (Ministry of Health) to facilitate a review workshop to present this first draft or comments.
- Field test the package and make adaptations. Conduct a training of master trainers on the revised national MAIYCN training package for Health Workers.
- Finalize MAIYCN training packages based on inputs received.
Qualification & Experience:
- Advanced degree in Nutrition, Public/Global/International Health, or related fields is required
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in the field of public nutrition and specifically maternal, infant and young child feeding
- Experience in development and/or adaptation of country specific IYCF training packages
- Experience of facilitating Training of trainers in IYCF
- Familiarity with the WHO/UNICEF integrated IYCF counselling course and UNICEF generic Community IYCF training package
- Excellent writing skills
- Fluency in spoken and written English
- Prior experience in Zambia is an asset
- Prior experience in integrating home fortification, Early Childhood Development, maternal and adolescent nutrition into IYCF training packages is an added value
