UNON Job Vacancy 2021
Responsibilities: Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background; the intern’s assigned office as well as the internship period.
Under the Supervision of direct supervision of the National Information Officer and overall supervision by the Development Coordination Officer, Strategic Planning and RCO Team Leader, the intern will provide support for activities relating to communications, advocacy and media. Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Writing of UN Zambia website stories
- Supporting the layout/design and production of newsletters and brochures
- Supporting the development of communication products such as feature articles
- Compiling content for the Verified Campaign
- Draft compelling Social Media posts around UN Zambia events and UN key messages
- Supporting with a wide range of COVID-19 Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) tasks including taking notes during meetings
- Assisting with virtual and in person events including launches
- Attending UN Communication Group and Risk Communication Team meetings
- Developing content including images and videos for website and Social Media Platforms
- Supporting with developing and/or updating databases of UN Zambia contacts including government, diplomatic missions, media and NGOs.
- Supporting with research on various subjects both from UN and non-UN online sources
- Providing day-to-day support to office activities both virtually and in person
Qualification:
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
- Have graduated with Bachelor’s degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent
- Be computer literate in standard software applications.
Experience:
- No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
- Do you have high proficiency in MS word, excel and PowerPoint?

- Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another UN Language is desirable.
