Job Purpose: The role holder will be responsible for Managing Country Office (CO) people function (Human Resource) which includes employees and consultants ensuring good people/consultant management practice, an efficient customer care service and adherence to global and local policies and procedures with programmes and coordinate HR activities for the Standard Chartered Foundation Project in Zambia, Tanzania, and Uganda

Responsibilities:

  • Work with project implementation leadsand Project Officers supporting them to manage employees and volunteers to deliver on the project objectives.
  • Measure and monitor organizational and people performance, deploying solutions and ensuring effective monitoring, evaluation and reporting processes are in place to facilitate feedback and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with HR guidelines and donor regulations.
  • Deliver timely reports and audits of high quality.
  • Ensure talent management initiatives are implemented successfully (and integrated with one another and any other HR and Business initiatives as per the project plan).
  • Ensures sourcing plans and development programs are fit for purpose for each country in support of strategic agenda
  • Manage Screening & short-listing of applicants.
  • Responsible for the relationship management of the candidate at country office level.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Formal qualification in HR management or the equivalent in experience.
  • Significant experience in HR management.
  • 10 years of experience in supporting managers to manage teams from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Proven track record in coaching, mentoring, and developing employees.
  • A thorough understanding of local employment laws in various countries.
  • Experience of working with colleagues located dispersedly, able to build strong working relationships, gaining trust and mutual respect; being flexible, responding to perspectives and being assertive when appropriate.
  • Experience of cross-cultural working and an understanding of issues of diversity.
  • Experience working with external suppliers and able to negotiate on charge structures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Articulate, persuasive, and concise.
  • Experience of managing a budget and making cost savings.
  • Customer focus mind-set, understanding and experience of importance of listening to, understanding, and meeting the needs of customers.
  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft and online HR systems
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring work is correct and able to quality check work of others.
