Specific Duties:

  • The specific duties and responsibilities of the Finance Officer will be;
  • Financial Monitoring and Reporting
  • Designs, generates and analyses financial reports for the donor and internal management
  • Provides program financial analysis and recommendations on spending rates, over and under-spending and pattern of expenditure
  • Reviews the monthly financial reports and follows-up on issues related to coding; follows-up with the Administration and Finance Manager – Programmes on reallocate/recode expenses and other charges
  • Prepares financial reports for donors for the assigned grants with narratives, explaining any variances to project budgets
  • Coordinates closely with the Program team and the Finance team to contribute to the annual revenue recognition and audit process
  • Supports and facilitates donor audits

  • LOCATION: MAPUTO, MOZAMBIQUE OR HARARE, ZIMBABWE ON LOCAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT.
  • Reporting to: Programme Coordinator / Country Representative, IUCN Mozambique
  • Work percentage: 100%
  • Grade: P1
  • Expected start date: 01 December 2022
  • Type of contract: Fixed-term (24 months)
  • Closing date: 05 December 2022

Qualification:

  • University degree, preferably with an MBA in accounting, business, management or finance.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a grants finance role preferably in a large or international NGO
  • Direct experience with government international development agencies and international contracts management
  • Experience building financial tracking and reporting systems, including for large and regional events
  • Understanding and experience of accounting software
  • Fluency in written and spoken English with strong communication skills. A working knowledge of Portuguese is an added advantage.
