In support of the Government of Zimbabwe, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has embarked on the implementation of a five-year Country Programme Document (CPD) 2016-2020. UNDP focuses on areas that have a multiplier effect through a targeted build-up of capacities, policies, the creation of dialogue space, and scalable downstream interventions. Proposed downstream interventions will seek to provide platforms for citizen engagement in democratic processes and facilitate access to skills, knowledge and new technologies for increased income generation.

UNDP Job Vacancy 2021
Job Purpose: Reporting to the Media and Communications Officer, the Communications Assistant supports the formulation and implementation of the communications and advocacy strategies to increase the standing and awareness of UN Women with partners, the media and the public. The Communications Assistant promotes a client-oriented approach in UN Women.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide background information for the development of the CO/MCO’s communication strategy;
- Provide logistical support to advocacy efforts and campaigns by organizing roundtable discussions, press conferences, and other publicity events and providing inputs to briefing materials and press releases, as necessary.
- Gather identifying storylines and achievements within the CO;
- Draft press releases, articles, key messages and other advocacy materials;
- Review translations, contact with printers and other suppliers to ensure production;
- Maintain library/ database of reference materials and photos;
- Follow guidelines from RO and HQ.
- Maintain and update database of relevant press in country;
- Respond to request for information, as delegated;
- Gather and compile inputs for talking points.
Qualification:
- Completion of secondary education is required;
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations or Journalism is an asset.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in providing support to the formulation and implementation of internal and external communications and advocacy strategies and related plans;
- Experience in the use of computers applications and software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) as well as web based management systems;
- Experience in the use of social media and digital communication
