Main duties and responsibilities:
UNICEF Zimbabwe requires an enthusiastic, hard-working, determined Child Protection Intern to ensure that justice for children support support is reliable, actionable and of a high standard and quality.
Under the guidance of the Child Protection Specialist-Justice, the Intern will assist with the following tasks:
- Undertake research on emerging trends/issues of juvenile justice and propose interventions required
- Contribute towards the drafting, adoption and review of child rights legislation, policies and strategies
- Support to the implementation of Spotlight Phase II justice for children activities
- Support child justice emergency activities, including COVID-19 response by the justice sector
- Other duties as assigned by the Child Protection Specialist-Justice.
This will be a full time internship for a duration of 5 months from the date of commencement.

Key Competencies, Skills and Experience:
- Be enrolled in a graduate programme or have graduated within the past two years, or post graduate students in Law.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
- Previous experience in justice for children programming and/or research in Zimbabwe or the Southern African region required.
- Particular knowledge of children in conflict with the law programming considered an advantage.
- Effective communication and organization skills.
- Computer literate with e-mail, word processing and spreadsheet skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams.
- Fluency in English and local language is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is considered as an asset.
- Have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office.
- Have no other relatives in the line of authority which the intern will report to.
