UNICEF Zimbabwe is seeking to hire an enthusiastic individual consultant for the provision of quality assurance monitoring of the school solarisation project and certify work done by contractors.

The objective of this project is to improve access to off grid clean solar energy to 150 registered primary schools and to the nearby teachers’ accommodations in rural, disadvantaged areas. This is linked to improved quality of teaching and school performance, as well as improved skills. The project will also enable use of electronic Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) and online learning to enable the full implementation of the curriculum, for the targeted schools. The project also aims to build a strengthened, more holistic learning environment for the learners to improve their learning through improved service delivery, enhanced practical understanding of renewable energy, greater opportunity for increased hours and modes of learning, and inclusion of innovations in learning such as Learning Passport. This project shall also reduce Zimbabwe’s dependence on solid and fossil fuel, instill an informed confidence in solar technology, while promoting a culture of cleaner, more environmentally responsible and sustainable living.
