The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is the United Nations programme for human settlements and sustainable urban development. It was established in 1978 as an outcome of the first United Nations Conference on Human Settlements and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat I) held in Vancouver, Canada, in 1976. UN-Habitat maintains its headquarters at the United Nations Office at Nairobi, Kenya. It is mandated by the United Nations General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. It is a member of the United Nations Development Group. The mandate of UN-Habitat derives from the Habitat Agenda, adopted by the United Nations Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat II) in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1996.

UN Habitat Job Vacancy 2021

Job Responsibilities:

• Supports all travels to project sites and relevant meetings undertaken by all project staff and relevant partners.
• Coordinates, if needed, travels with other Implementing Partners.
• Keeps the project vehicle in pristine working order, and manages all associated maintenance and repairs accordingly.
• Keeps expenses and accounts related to the project vehicle in order, for regular reviews by the Project Manager (P-4), and Programme Management Officer, and National Officers in the Project
• Provision of reliable and secure driving services
• Proper use of vehicle
• Day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle
• Immediate action in case of accident

Qualification:

• Completion of secondary school or equivalent is required. Drivers training with a valid driver’s license is required.

Experience:

• Experience in driving and vehicle maintenance is required.
• Experience with an NGO or the United Nations is desirable.
• Experience in first aid training is desirable.
