The WHO has published a job vacancy announcement on 7th May 2022 for qualified Ethiopians to fill in the vacant post of Operations Support and Logistics (OSL) Assistant to be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Purpose Of The Position: The OSL Assistant will support logistics and operations units. He/She will assist the Drought Response teams in the establishment of the tactical means to perform the setting and management of the WHO and EOC premises, ensuring timely and adequate supply of the required medical and non-medical commodities and providing health logistics support to ensure that WHO health activities are performing up to Sphere standards. The incumbent will be deployed to emergency operations when required. Under the overall guidance of the OSL Officer, Field Coordinator and the Incident Manager, and within the delegated authority, the OSL Assistant will support Health Response implementation by assisting one or many of the five OSL OSP portfolio required competencies: (1) Air OPS support; (2) Emergency construction; (3) Office, EOC and accommodation management; (4) Supply Chain Management, (5) Preparedness and readiness; (6) Emergency IT.

Qualification:

• Completion of secondary education, supplemented by training/certification in logistics management.

Experience:

• At least 8 years of related experience, at the national and international levels, in managing emergency logistics operations and supply operations in international organizations/institutions, part of which in the field supporting emergency humanitarian operations.
• Prior working experience with WHO/UN, health clusters partners, recognized humanitarian organizations or with an international nongovernmental organization.
• Experience or knowledge of import/export and customs administration.
