UNOCT Job Vacancy 2022
Duties and Responsibilities: The specific deliverables for this consultancy include the following:
- Desk analysis of current and emerging security and terrorist and violent extremism threats in East Africa and the broader region, resulting in the production of internal briefing materials for UNOCT. Briefing materials to include: 1 regional report, accompanied by a presentation summarizing the analysis, and the supporting briefing notes.
- Mapping of priorities and response by countries in the region, and development of country-specific background material to inform and guide future plans for support by UNOCT. Products to include: 20 country fact sheets. Countries may include, but are not limited to: Burundi, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Qualification:
- Advanced University Degree (Masters or equivalent) in international relations, political or social science, development studies or other directly relevant field. A combination of relevant academic qualifications and extensive practical experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
- A minimum of five years experience in synthesizing large volumes of information into concise and professional reports, briefs and other written products is required. Ability to triangulate information to ensure accuracy is required. Proven ability to meet short deadlines and work autonomously is required. Knowledge of the United Nations system, East Africa and/or southern Africa, and peace and security, specifically counter-terrorism and violent extremism, is highly desirable.
