United Nations Secretariat Job Vacancy 2023
Responsibilities:
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background, the intern’s assigned office, and the internship period.
Under the supervision of the National Peace and Development Officer, the intern will:
- Support literature review of policies, laws, regulations, and strategies on peacebuilding and prevention in Kenya.
- Prepare background papers on thematic issues in Prevention and Sustaining Peace.
- Prepare briefing papers on the situation in the Horn of Africa and the implications for Kenya.
- Participate in research and mediation activities by the Peace and Development Unit and support the preparation of reports.
- Support preparation of presentations, including visualization of data.
Qualification:
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
- Have graduated with Bachelor’s degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent
Experience:
- No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
- Experience in Supporting literature review of policies, laws, regulations, and strategies on peacebuilding and prevention is required.
- Experience in preparing background papers on thematic issues in Prevention and Sustaining Peace is desirable.
- Experience in planning and organizing webinars or face-to-face workshops and roundtables is desirable.
Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in oral and written English is required, and knowledge of Kiswahili is desirable. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
