Overall Purpose Of The Role: Under the supervision and guidance of the DRC Ethiopia Protection Manager and the RPA Coordinator, the RPA Assistants will be part of the emergency protection mobile team which will be deployed to areas of onset emergencies in Ethiopia. As a member of the protection team, the protection assistants will be responsible for implementing an emergency protection response in collaboration with the DRC emergency team. The position holder is responsible for conducting protection activities as well as ensuring protection mainstreaming in emergency response activities. Specifically, she or he will plan, implement, monitor, and document protection activities by supporting the emergency response projects and working closely with protection colleagues at field levels. The position will, furthermore, be tasked to participate in emergency assessments where Protection is severely lacking presence. Additionally, the RPA Assistants will contribute to the identification and assistance of vulnerable individuals and households for support through referrals and provision of individual protection assistance.

Qualification:
- University degree in law, social work, social science or other relevant field from a recognized institution.
Experience:
- 0-2 years’ experience (paid or voluntary) in an entry-level position, with experience in the field of protection in a humanitarian response working for an international NGO, UN agency or relevant ministry or local authority, or related field;
- Experience in conducting protection monitoring and protection assessments or equivalent research preferred;
- Experience in working with displaced or at risk populations, including identifying and responding to needs of particular vulnerable individuals with cultural sensitivity and strong interpersonal skills.
