IFRC Job Vacancy 2023

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safely drive and maintain the DRC/IFRC vehicle in a professional, conscientious and safe manner in accordance with Federation standards (Code of Conduct and Drivers Rules and Regulations).
  • Ensure that DRC/IFRC vehicle are checked daily and weekly (inspection reports) and ensures that the vehicle is in a proper functioning order and the logbooks are duly filled out and always up to date.
  • Perform daily inspections according to the standard form for inspection for vehicles assigned as instructed.
  • Ensure preventive and curative maintenance of the vehicles to maintain maximum operational capacity
  • Transport DRC passengers, visitors and cargo in compliance with established safety rules
  • Ensure proper use of vehicles for business purpose only in line with DRC vehicle policy.
  • Plan and manage timely transfer of people and items as per DRC requests.
  • Contribute to the good management of stocks of spare parts and consumables.
  • Keeps a record of departure, arrival, mileage covered, and fuel consumed and other pertinent data records as per the IFRC policy and procedure in place.
  • Keeps the motor vehicle in good running order and carries out minor breakdown maintenances and repairs.
  • Always ensures that there is enough fuel in the tank and checks on the level of oil and water and does refilling as needed and replaces flat tires, spare parts and gets them repaired.
  • Understand and obey all traffic laws and regulations in Ethiopia.
  • Ensure the follow-up of adequate security measures regarding the use of vehicles, key control, fuel consumption, movement control, according to IFRC standards.
  • At all times, be in possession of a valid driving license and make sure that the license is renewed when necessary.
  • Responsible for the safety and security of passengers, vehicle and freight and image of the IFRC
  • Ensure that all occupants (including driver) of the vehicle are wearing safety belts.
  • Ensure that always the assigned Federation vehicle is equipped with the correct tools and equipment (emergency kit, functioning jack and handle, fire extinguisher, tool kit, warning triangle, a spare wheel with a properly inflated tyre and an approved first aid kit).
  • Report all accidents, or other incidents involving other vehicles or pedestrians, to the IFRC Logistics Officer and Security Officer
  • Ensure that the vehicles are kept clean, inside and outside, at all times and that the Federation stickers are visible.
  • Carry out, if necessary, any other logistic or administrative task requested by the DRC HoR or Admin Officer

Qualification & Experience:

  • Minimum Diploma in Auto mechanic, 4WD Vehicle Drive and any other relevant field.
  • More than 5 years’ experience as driver for international organization
  • Experience of working in support of emergency Humanitarian Response
  • Experience of working in a Humanitarian Institution, or International Organization
  • Preferred Red Cross / Red Crescent knowledge and experience.
