NRC Job Vacancy 2022
Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the enhancement of PSOD Policy Processes, approaches, mechanisms and tools for AU Peace Support Operations;
- Facilitate policy development, review and analysis of issues and trends, as well as research activities relating to PSOs to ensure the incorporation of lessons learned;
- Provide policy support to the three components of PSO (Civilian, Military and Police) including
- development and review as well as ensure standardization and alignment in line with the directives from the relevant AU Policy Organs
- Ensure the alignment of policy development priorities with the AU Doctrine on Peace Support
- Operations, and support efforts for the development of a new ASF Concept;
- Facilitate the development and review of mission specific policies to align with the provisions of the AU Policy Organs decisions and guidance
- Facilitate the classification and codification of specific PSO documents including but not limited to Policies, Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures and the respective approval processes
- Support the development of a strategy to support the AU PSO and RECs/RMs in enhancing policy processes;
- Remain fully updated with peace support operations trends and developments, both in the
- context of the African Union and RECs/RMs as well as other relevant international organisations;
- Provide support in the implementation of directives from the AU Peace and Security Council (AU PSC) and the Specialized Technical Committee on Defence, Safety and Security (STCDSS) on policy issues; Provide support for the conduct of meetings of the STCDSS and coordinate multidimensional processes of the African Standby Force and of AU-mandated as well as authorized peace support operations;
- Facilitate interaction and partnership between the PSOD and relevant Policy and Research
- Institutions to enhance policy processes for AU PSOs.
- Assist in the conduct of assessment, monitoring and evaluation initiative of the PSOD and assist in engagement with AU Member States on policy initiatives;
- Assist in coordinating and conducting workshops, technical consultations, dialogue sessions and other activities as required;
- Perform any other tasks as may be assigned by the direct supervisor.
