How can you make a difference:
- Identify product or market segments (immunization [vaccines, safe injection equipment and cold chain equipment], medicines, diagnostics), identify bottlenecks (trade barriers included), market failures and suboptimal market structures based on market shaping frameworks.
- Conduct market analysis based on these identified bottlenecks and market issues.
- Develop market assessments and frameworks relevant to market and/or product categories, with identified areas for intervention over time.
- Support the development of African continental wide strategies including on special contracting, market analysis and opportunities, and market communications online and offline.
- Ensure that opportunities for match making (so without funding levers) between private sector suppliers are engaged as part of the opportunities in the total assessment.
- Create, consult, and align the short and mid-term targets of the PAVM with UNICEF SD’s capabilities for support – for prioritization, action, and resources to drive the diversification and supply security agenda.
- Build and align on short, medium, and long-term targets and KPIs for both SD and PAVM, as well as for specific product and market categories over time, taking recommendations from the market assessment(s) and strategies and near and longer-term opportunities.
- In collaboration with UNICEF SD centers (Procurement Services, Markets, Supply Financing, Monitoring, Strategic Data and Evidence, Vaccines, and relevant procurement centers), ROs and PAVM, advocate for new suppliers in identified products and markets.
- Curate information from various sources by identifying market advocacy opportunities, and driving change through external communications activities, ideally building on strategic market communications tools e.g., dashboards, market notes, position papers.
- Bring multiple strands of information together in an easily digestible manner, working with Africa CDC, SD procurement centers and other organizations including supranational ones, to identify progress stories, generating momentum and action through knowledge management.
- Ensure networks are developed and maintained within SD; UNICEF RO and COs, African Union, and Africa CDC to share best practice.

Minimum Requirements:
Education:
- A completed Advanced University Degree (Master’s Degree) in Marketing, Business Administration, Management, Economics, or relevant applied sciences is required.
- A completed first University degree (Bachelor’s Degree) may be accepted in lieu of a master’s degree in conjunction with two (2) additional relevant years of work experience.
Experience:
- Minimum of eight (8) years relevant professional work experience including at least three (3) at the international level is required. Experience in the following areas in the private or public sectors is required:
- Deep knowledge of market analysis especially in the health, nutrition, biotech, and biopharma commodities sectors.
Language:
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
