LWF Job Vacancy 2021

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identification of clients at risk of postural distortion due to neurological or motor dysfunction through individualized assessment in the rehabilitation centre
  • Setting appropriate postural management and therapeutic interventions to improve on the posture of the client.
  • Address both the positioning and seated mobility needs of individual with moderate to severe postural dysfunction.
  • Maintain joint range of motion and reduce the risk of developing orthopaedic deformities by increasing the number of hours the client spends in symmetrical and therapeutic posture.
  • Provision of orthotics and/or equipment to correct posture, mobility and train on the use of the equipment and orthotics.
  • Offer advice and instruction on adaptive equipment, orthotics and educating client/family /caretakers on correct posture in order to increase participation in daily activities.
  • Working in collaboration with other rehabilitation team members to improve the posture and mobility of the client.
  • Offering training on postural management and mobility aid to mid-level therapists and community rehabilitation workers and other agency staff to better address the postural and mobility needs of PwDs
  • Maintain records and data relating to patients at the technical unit.
  • Supervise the rehabilitation staff in implementation of their duties and responsibilities
  • Participate and collect data for operational research.
  • Protect clients and support staff by adhering to Infection Control Protocols.
  • Conduct awareness creation and sensitize the community on existing and emerging disability issues
  • Review and develop additional assessment and/or outcome measurement tools, as required.
  • Assist in day-to-day operations of the CBR program to ensure objectives are met.
  • Coordinate the technical unit and strengthen collaboration with other rehab units to ensure high quality interdisciplinary care to clients
  • Design and carry out training programs for rehabilitation staff i.e. through capacity building, mentoring, modelling, observing and conducting supervision sessions.
  • Facilitate home based assessments, therapy, follow ups and referrals for Persons with disabilities (PwDs)
  • Carry out and prepare regular reports documenting CBR activities and progress achieved toward project goals.
  • Work closely with CBR committee, maintain links with community leaders and provide timely and accurate information to the community on project activities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Orthopaedics Technology or Diploma in Orthopaedic Technology from KMTC.
