Area of activity: Digital transformation is an important opportunity for all African countries, modernize their economies and take their own path with local solutions for the goals of sustainable development in all areas of economic and social life. The group „ Digital Transformation in Africa “ ( OE 1730 ) supports the GIZ Africa area as a hub for digital portfolio development, to contribute to digital innovations as part of its projects and to take advantage of the opportunities and risks of digital transformation.

Your tasks:

  • Support with the WIDU implementation in the partner country Kenya and possibly other WIDU countries
  • Support in diaspora networking and contributions to Africa policy networking in Germany and Europe
  • Support in the conceptual, content and organizational planning and implementation of workshops and events ( virtual, possibly face-to-face events )
  • Examination of project applications from participating small African companies and monitoring of the WIDU platform
  • Support in the conception and implementation of new topic-specific calls on the WIDU platform (e.g. Green Business Call, Food Security Call etc.)
  • Support in public relations and in processing inquiries
  • Continuous review of the platform functions and participation in the further development of the software
  • Support in project monitoring, project development and reporting to the client.

Qualification & Experience:

  • You study an MA course preferably in political, social sciences or international relations.
  • You have e.g. through internships and / or study visits, first experiences abroad, ideally in Africa and have basic knowledge of development cooperation.
  • You have first experiences with small business support in Africa and with the African diaspora in Germany
  • Your English is confident of negotiation.
  • They have a high level of IT affinity and have very good IT skills (, especially in the common office programs Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and first knowledge of the WIDU software platform
  • They have a very good oral and written expression in English and German as well as the ability to familiarize themselves quickly and comprehensively with new topics.
  • They are a team player and work efficiently, carefully and self-organized.
