UN DESA Job Vacancy 2022
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will engage with the national statistical offices of Kenya and Mozambique (i.e. KNBS and INE) to undertake the following tasks:
- Provide guidance advice to KNBS on the production and finalization of water accounts, including a roadmap for sustained production of water accounts.
- Undertake an assessment of data sources which could be used to compile and further improve the quality and detail of the water account.
- Serve as resource person on water accounts and conduct hands-on sessions during a workshop on the development of the accounts.
- Prepare a report on indicators that can be derived from the water account and how they can support national policies and monitoring of the SDGs and other international initiatives.
- Provide remote assistance and trainings to KNBS as appropriate.
- Provide guidance advice to INE on the production and finalization of energy accounts, including a roadmap for sustained production of energy accounts.
- Undertake an assessment of data sources which could be used to compile and further improve the quality and detail of the energy account.
- Serve as resource person on energy accounts and conduct hands-on sessions during a workshop on the development of the accounts.
- Prepare a report on indicators that can be derived from the energy account and how they can support national policies and monitoring of the SDGs and other international initiatives.

Qualification:
- An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in statistics, economics, political science, international studies and development, environmental sciences, or related field.
Experience:
- A minimum of 15 years of proven experience within the UN system, government administration, non-governmental organization, consultancy service, academia or similar organization is required.
- Demonstrated experience in the collection, compilation, analysis and dissemination of environmental-economic accounts is required.
- Experience working with countries in compiling energy accounts is highly desirable.
