The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is the United Nations programme for human settlements and sustainable urban development. It was established in 1978 as an outcome of the first United Nations Conference on Human Settlements and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat I) held in Vancouver, Canada, in 1976. UN-Habitat maintains its headquarters at the United Nations Office at Nairobi, Kenya. It is mandated by the United Nations General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. It is a member of the United Nations Development Group. The mandate of UN-Habitat derives from the Habitat Agenda, adopted by the United Nations Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat II) in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1996.

UN-Habitat Job Vacancy 2022
Duties and Responsibilities: The Consultant will interacts with all the stakeholders involved in the development of the SDG Project Assessment Tool 2.0, therefore he/she will be appointed on the basis of securing the highest standards of efficiency, competence, and integrity. He/She will need to be able to create, update and maintain a database which is added to and accessed securely with varying permissions by approximately 100 different users. The Consultant will also need to create the multilingual user-friendly interface for submitting new data to the database, accessing and summarising (including with graphs) this data.
- Develop the architecture design and digital platform for the SDG Project Assessment Tool 2.0, including the back-end infrastructure such as the, database.
- Create the UX/UI design and visual identity of the SDG Tool 2.0 digital platform and mobile application.
- Coordinate the project progress with other consultants engaged specifically for the development of the Tool (e.g. Sustainable Development Expert, Data Analyst)
- Support the team in organizing and facilitating design sessions to build the different components of the digital platform
- Lead the design and implementation of prototypes and product research, support the team in gathering and systematizing the results, and propose iterations to be incorporated into the digital platform.
- Develop a working prototype to be presented the World Urban Forum in June 2022.
- Maintain and improve the SDG Tool 2.0 digital platform, according to input and feedback received from users.
- Assist in planning and elaboration of documents, workshops, tutorials, capacity building and communication materials, presentations, and meetings.
Qualification:
- Advanced university degree (Masters) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Design, Urban Planning, Urban Science or similar is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience professional experience as an full stack web developer, IU/UX designer, or in a similar position is required.
- Demonstrable portfolio of released web and mobile applications is an asset.
- Whole life cycle app development experience as a solo developer or in a team environment is desirable.
