UN Habitat Job Vacancy 2022
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Undertaking a desk review of existing spatial data on built-up area, expansion projections, population, informality, topography, natural habitat, and climate risks in the three project cities, consulting as appropriate for the three cities, inter alia, published climate change vulnerability assessments, project and regional proposals to the Adaptation Fund, Urban Development Strategy and Action Plan for Honiara, Urban Development Master Plan for Lilongwe, and Urban Resilience Project Baseline for Morondava
- Identifying spatial data gaps that emerged from this review, including, inter alia, on multiple dimensions of vulnerability related to biodiversity, climate change, and the urban poor
- Collecting missing data, including through supporting the conducting of two virtual workshops with relevant departments of local governments of the three aforementioned cities
- Compiling additional spatial data collected from the piloting of UN-Habitat’s ecosystem-based adaptation tool (work package 3, above) in each of the three aforementioned cities
- Assembling all spatial data at the same geographic scale into a draft digital atlas (final edits and analysis by senior consultant, separate TOR) for each of the three aforementioned cities
- Distilling methodological lessons from the mapping exercise across the three aforementioned cities
- Supporting virtual global expert group meeting on the above.

Qualification:
- A master’s or advanced degree in urban planning, landscape architecture, or related field is required. First degree with two additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience:
- A minimum of two years’ experience in urban or landscape planning or architecture is required. Strong spatial mapping skills are highly desirable. Experience on projects in the developing world is desirable.
