Duties and Responsibilities: Under the overall supervision of the Senior Human Settlements Officer (SHSO) in the Regional Office for Africa and Task Manager for West Africa, and in close collaboration with the Technical leading Team (TLT) of the project, the Regional Planning Specialist will be responsible of providing substantive contribution to the Urban Resilience for the Central Sahel project, within the Regional Office for Africa. Specifically, he/she will:
- Guide the technical development of the regional assessment ;
- Develop the methodology for data collection at the regional level;
- Guide the regional data collection and compilation;
- Provide technical inputs and training for the consultants responsible of the process at national and local level;
- Review the final regional assessment developed.

Qualification:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in architecture, urban development, regional development, relevant to development and management of human settlements is required. A first level university degree in combination with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience:
- At least 10 years of working experience in the areas of urban planning, urban development or regional development, preferably in developing countries is required
- Experience and collaboration in teams for spatial development framework and matrix of functions is desirable.
- Familiarity with the concepts and current practices related to climate change adaptation and urban resilience is desirable.
- Previous working experience in Mozambique and speaking proficiency of Portuguese are considered an asset.
