UN Habitat Job Vacancy 2021
Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will undertake the following tasks:
- Organize a kick-off meeting and training for city officials on WaCT and WFD survey in Taita Taveta County
- Train surveyors for the WaCT and WFD survey in Taita Taveta County
- Apply WaCT and WFD at county level, focusing on the 4 main cities of the Taita Taveta County (Voi, Mwatate, Taveta, Wundanyi)
- Consult with project team for the initial analysis of WaCT and WFD survey results for developing a report and strategize local stakeholders’ workshop
- Organize one local stakeholders’ workshop to discuss results of WaCT and WFD survey
- Mobilize youths and a women group to develop waste source inventory
- Develop a waste source inventory
- Conduct six local stakeholders’ workshop for the development of an integrated Municipal Solid Waste Management (MSWM) strategy at county level, focusing on the 4 main cities
- Develop an integrated MSW strategy for Taita Taveta county with focus on the main 4 cities, linking to UNEP and NEMA strategy on marine litter and plastic waste

Qualification:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Environmental Science, Waste Management, Environmental Planning and Management or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in project development and management within Kenya and the JKP region with strong knowledge of county governments under planning, environment, policy, research and coordination is required. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in municipal solid waste management or a related field with extensive knowledge and experience in solid waste data collection and MSW strategy development is required. Knowledge in WaCT application is an asset. Experience in the United Nations or other international development agencies is regarded as an asset.
