UN-Habitat maintains its headquarters at the United Nations Office at Nairobi, Kenya. It is mandated by the United Nations General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. It is a member of the United Nations Development Group. The mandate of UN-Habitat derives from the Habitat Agenda, adopted by the United Nations Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat II) in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1996.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will assist the work of the Urban Mobility Team in the Urban Basic Services Section by providing the following:
- Support project management and implementation of the UNRSF projects “Reclaiming Streets” and “ACROS” and coordinate with partners on the delivery of outputs;
- Support capacity building activities and city exchanges under the “ACROS” project on road safety;
- Support the preparation of the Innovation Challenge on road safety under the ACROS project;
- Support the development of investment and funding proposals on road safety in ACROS partner cities.
- Support the development of National Urban Mobility Plans and Policies in SOLUTIONS plus partner cities;
- Support dissemination of SOLUTIONS plus project results in international conferences;
Qualification & Experience:
- First-Level University degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in Urban Planning, Transport Planning, Engineering, Geography, or a related field is required.
- 2 years working experience in Urban or Transport Planning is required.
- A good understanding of transport planning, urban planning, urban development, urban policy and legislation and sustainable urbanisation is an asset and is required.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Spanish language skills are an asset.
