Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Communications and Outreach the intern will:
- Assist in organizing outreach activities including communication and awareness raising and use of social media to communicate project results, internally and externally.
- Support social media management and outreach with focus on UN Environment Africa Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook pages
- Assist in drafting and preparing press releases, news stories and supporting the production of audiovisual multimedia content
- Support with Programme Communication and partnership development
- Graphic Design
- Assist in design of promotional, reports and informational material, creation of infographics for communications and resource mobilization
- Assist monitor and analyze statistics related to social media and communications products.
- Assist create research briefs on environmental research publications in the region and profiling them in the office data center.
- Support Video Production and Photography
- Support with creation of stock photography and video
- Support with branding
- Assist to Carry out any other additional duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the Supervisor
Qualification:
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
- Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.
- Preferred study for this internship, Undergraduate Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Design or International Relations
- Be computer literate in standard software applications.
Experience:
- No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
