Job Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Coordinator for the Climate Change Subprogramme the incumbent of this post will be responsible for the following:
- Provide assistance in support of the Subprogramme’s planning and implementation activities/processes to contribute to contribute to the wider UNEP strategic planning and programme coordination. These include mainly but not limited to; the development of Strategic Frameworks, Programme of Work Medium Term Strategy, Programme Frameworks and Programme Performance Reports.
- Assist in the coordination of programme/project planning and preparation; monitors status of programme/project documents submitted to the Subprogramme office for review and clearance.
- Assist in the analysis/review of project document components submitted for review including all the relevant parts such as budgets, theory of change, programme logic/framework, alignment of projects to the Subprogramme mandate, etc., ensuring conformity with UNEP guidelines/programme manual. Also assists in coordinating the submission of project and programme documents to UNEP’s Quality Assurance Section.
- Assist the Coordinator in the preparation of Performance Progress Reports including interacting with programme managers to gather data and reports on project performance, retrieving and analysing data and generating draft reports; monitors the reporting by project managers of regular project performance data that can be used in generating performance reporting.
- Assist in preparation for regular team meetings to monitor and report programme progress from the technical, administrative and financial point of view. Liaise with different Units and out-posted offices across UNEP to ensure interaction and coordination.
- Support data entry of project-related information and analyze the status of financial implementation through available information systems.
- Conduct research on countries, sectors and climate data/statistics and compile into analytic products.
- Assist in Subprogramme communication to internal and external target audiences.
