UNODC Job Vacancy 2022

Duties and Responsibilities: Under the overall supervision of the Head of Transnational Organized Crime, Illicit Trafficking and Terrorism Programmes and direct supervision of the BMM Programme Manager based in Nairobi and in close coordination with the BMM programme country coordinator in Somalia and other UNODCpersonnel, as well as the the Ministry of Justice, the consultant will perform the following tasks:

  • Provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Justice, the Parliament, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other Somali institutions to ratify UNTOC and its protocols, including holding meetings, drafting notes, leading workshops, etc.
  • In parallel to the process of the ratification of UNTOC, provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Justice of Somalia to draft a comprehensive legislation against TIP and SOM with the objective of having the Bill passed by the Cabinet, including holding meetings, drafting technical inputs, leading workshops, etc.

Qualification:

  • Advanced university degree in criminology, law, political sciences, sociology or related discipline is required; A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in the field of criminal justice is required.
  • Demonstrated experience to advice on producing legislation in the field of TOC, TIP and SOM is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in the field of TOC, TIP and SOM is required.
  • Experience in planning and producing interactive events for high level counterparts is required.
  • Experience working with criminal justice practitioners is desirable
  • Professional experience in Somalia is desirable
  • Previous work experience with the UN or other International Organizations is desirable.
