UNODC Job Vacancy 2022

Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will work as an embedded consultant with the National Council on the Administration of Justice (NCAJ) Secretariat and work closely with the Judiciary of Kenya, the donor (European Union) and UNODC (Headquarters and ROEA) in performing the following substantive duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist UNODC ROEA with the implementation of the PLEAD project 2022 workplan including on harmonization and tracking of implementation progress.
  • Support the design of project implementation at sub-activity level including through research on and analysis on proposed interventions (sub-activities) in line with the Project Document Work-plan.
  • As an embedded consultant at the NCAJ Secretariat, provide technical support in coordinating NCAJ members in harmonizing workplans, budgets and activities such as:
  • Offer technical support to the newly constituted ICT Committee, Anti Corruption and Traffic Committee to ensure that their activities as per their workplan are fully implemented.
  • Technical support to the NCAJ Ad Hoc Committee on Elections especially on interagency collaboration on training
  • iTechnical support to the National Committee on Community Service Order programme especially on prisons’ decongestion exercise
  • Technical support to the NCAJ to develop their Inaugural Report on the Administration of Justice Report
  • Prepare operational guidelines, as and when required, for enhanced programme planning and coordination.
  • Provide regular technical advice on operational matters relating to implementation of the project.
  • Support and supervise consultants engaged by the UNODC to provide technical assistance to the NCAJ and the Judiciary.
  • Prepare high quality reports emanating from PLEAD project meetings, in line with deadlines
  • Prepare progress reports, support development of financial documents and other support documents for the implementation of the PLEAD project activities
  • Provide technical support to consultants implementing various aspects of the project
  • Keep proper record of reports and media items for the project.

Qualification:

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, business administration, social sciences or other relevant discipline is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination.

Experience:

  • A minimum of seven (07) years’ experience in working in the Justice Sector, in crime prevention, governance (especially local governance), sustainable development or rule of law is required.
  • Experience working with state/ public authorities on issues related to the criminal justice sector in Kenya is desirable.
  • Knowledge of results-based management, monitoring and evaluation is desirable.
