UNODC Job Vacancy 2022

Duties and Responsibilities: Under the overall supervision of the Head of Transnational Organized Crime, Illicit Trafficking and Terrorism Programmes based in Nairobi and Head of UNODC Programme Office in Somalia based in Mogadishu, under the direct supervision of the Associate Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Office (BMM Country Coordinator for Somalia) based in Mogadishu, and in close consultation with the UNODC BMM programme team, the consultant will:

  • Provide high quality programme and project support to programme and project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
  • Translate documents from Somali to English and vice versa;
  • Interpret meetings and events from Somali to English and vice versa;

Qualification:

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in language studies, development studies or related disciplines is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of work experience in programme or project administration, technical cooperation or related areas is required.
  • Experience with organizing activities is required.
  • Experience in translating documents and interpreting from Somali to English and vice versa is required.
  • Experience of working with the United Nations desirable. Demonstrated knowledge of countering TIP and SOM is desirable.
