UNODC Job Vacancy 2022

Specific Tasks: Under the overall supervision of the Regional Representative in the UNODC Regional Office for Eastern Africa (ROEA) and the direct supervision of the UNODC ROEA Head of the Criminal Justice Programme, and in close cooperation and consultation with governments, private sector and other partners, the consultant will perform the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Design and development of youth projects, write concept notes and project document, project management duties for execution of projects, including tracking overall project progress, communicating with partners and stakeholders, donor reporting and project review.
  • Develop the regional expansion strategies for youth projects with a special focus on island states in eastern Africa.
  • Implement activities for the “Education for Justice” initiative under the Implementation of the Global Programme for the Doha Declaration in the East Africa region and responses to COVID-19.
  • Coordinate and Implement the Urban Safety Governance Approach follow up activities
  • Coordinate and implement the education programme for children in conflict with the law and the designing dreams project
  • Organize stakeholder meetings, side events, conferences and youth workshops to enhance the role of youth in design-making, policy formulation, implementation and monitoring of UNODC youth projects
  • Coordinate activities of the Africa Young African Parliamentarians Network and cross-cutting activities with anticorruption
  • Fundraise for the regional youth programmes.

Qualification:

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in psychology, sociology, international development, international relations, community development or other relevant discipline is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 7 years relevant work experience with youth, vulnerable groups, work in prisons and the criminal justice is required.
  • Experience in the field of community-based youth peer support programmes is desirable.
  • Experience of networking and forming development/poverty alleviation groups or strategic partnerships is desirable.
