Job Responsibilities: Under the overall supervision of the Chief UN Joint Medical Service, the UN JMS Coordination Officer will be responsible for, but not limited to the performance of the following programme coordination and clinical functions:
- Development of a comprehensive, UN system-wide HIV prevention, care and support programme in Kenya and ensure compliance with the UN Policy on HIV/AIDS in the workplace. Develop, coordinate, implement and monitor a comprehensive HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention strategy, including induction, sensitization, and peer education training for UN system in Kenya in accordance with UN policy on HIV
- Offer clinical and counselling support to staff living with HIV and provide linkage with health facilities offering treatment to UN staff living HIV and monitor the standards of care provided. Monitoring the standards and protocols used for management of UN staff and dependents living with HIV/AIDS and clinical follow-up of cases.
- Develop and implement a strategy for HIV/AIDS training on a continuous basis and oversee the availability of prevention commodities in all work sites in Kenya in line with the UN policy on HIV/AIDS. Lead and coordinate the HIV testing and counselling for all the UN staff members in Kenya and ensure regular and continuous services are available to staff members and their families.
- Offer technical support to all UN agencies in Kenya on the implementation of a sustainable workplace HIV/AIDS program and on mainstreaming HIV/AIDS in the workplace. Participate in the Joint UN Team on AIDS meetings and act as the focal point for workplace HIV/AIDS programs.
- Prepare progress and evaluation reports of the implementation of UN personnel policy on HIV/AIDS in Kenya, the UN Learning Strategy on HIV/AIDS, the UN JMS Wellness program and develop and maintain a monitoring and evaluation program

- Develop the UN JMS Wellness program and coordinate the roll-out the pillars of the program as well as ensuring continuous innovative updates to the program elements to keep staff engaged and aware about their health.
- Under the UN for All banner, reach out to staff to raise awareness on issues of staff wellness, discrimination in the workplace, mental health, disability, and substance abuse
- Establish contacts and networks inside and outside the UN in Kenya to promote collaboration and facilitate implementation of a comprehensive health and wellbeing strategy and ensure adequate services to UN staff members and their families.
- Offer strategic input into the development and promotion of the occupational health and wellness program of staff and their families in line with international best practice. Participate in preparedness and response activities to mass casualty incidents and infectious disease outbreaks that may emerge at the duty station from time to time.
- Undertake clinical consultations, UN medical examinations for the purpose of clearance for fitness to work or travel and medical reviews for staff members on an ongoing basis
- Participate in the pandemic and emergency preparedness and response activities at UNON JMS clinic in conjunction with the other responsible parties within the duty station
- Undertake any additional assignments as requested by the Chief, UN Joint Medical Service from time to time.

Qualification:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in medicine, medical science, public health Sciences or related area is required. A first-level university medical degree which is MBChB or MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the medical field or related area is required.
- At least two (2) years of progressive experience focusing on clinical and workplace implementation of health and wellness programmes, public health programmes, including HIV/AIDS prevention programming is required.
- Experience working in an occupational health setting/workplace environment is highly desirable
- Experience in counselling and/or stress management is desirable.
