Responsibilities:
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background, the interns’ assigned office as well as the internship period.
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Technical Assistant, the interns will:
- Assist in updating and managing DCS communications (Safaricom and Telkom bills) and updating phone numbers and locations.
- Assist in undertaking, updating, and reporting on inventory.
- Prepare daily / monthly/weekly reports for all meetings in and outside Nairobi.
- Provide technical support for DCS staff and delegates and setup up computers for conference and training.
- Assist duty technicians in setting up, operating, and maintaining conference equipment.
- Assist in setting up and operating Web-streaming infrastructure.
- Assist in administrative duties in the Office of the Chief, ITU/PCS/DCS.
Qualification:
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
- Have graduated with Bachelor’s degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent
- Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office).
Experience:
- No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
- Proficiency in the use of MS Office applications or equivalent is desirable.
- Knowledge in operating AV equipment is desirable.
Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
