Job Responsibilities: Within delegated authority and depending on location, the Public Information Officer may be responsible for the following duties:
- Prepares or coordinates the preparation of a diverse range of communication products in support of Mission priorities and works closely with UNSOM sections, UN agencies, funds and programmes to develop both traditional and multimedia communications campaigns, as well as incorporating broader messaging and themes into all relevant events and products.
- Drafts and edits material for press releases, key messages, Q&As, talking points, UN newsletters, reports and books.
- Writes, edits and produces articles, features and digital content for the Mission’s social media platforms.

Qualification:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with additional two years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, international relations, public administration or related area
- Experience in preparing and coordinating the development of communications products, external and internal, and content across multiple platforms ensuring accurate and consistent messaging, branding, and alignment with the communications strategy is also required.
- Experience working with both traditional and social media platforms is desirable.
- Experience working in public information in the United Nations common system, or a comparable international organization, is desirable.
