Plan International Job Vacancy 2021

Role Purpose: Plan International is an independent child rights and humanitarian organisation committed to children living a life free of poverty, violence and injustice. We support children to gain the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to claim their rights to a fulfilling life, today and in the future. We place a specific focus on girls and women, who are most often left behind.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Bachelor degree in Law, International Law, Social Sciences, Development Studies or a related field with good knowledge of International Refugee, Human Rights and Humanitarian Law.
  • Experience with participatory approaches to protection, emergency preparedness, crisis/emergency relief management or other related areas. Experience in the country of assignment is an asset.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of DO NO HARM principles and established international child protection standards, particularly related to case management, alternative care, child friendly spaces, psychosocial support, and community-based child protection mechanisms.
  • Minimum of 5 years (of which at least 3 in the field) of progressively responsible professional experience in child protection, humanitarian affairs, human rights and related fields.
  • Experience working with communities, families, parents, youth, adolescents, and children, including child survivors of GBV and unaccompanied and separated children in humanitarian contexts
  • Work style: Is well planned and organized even within a fluid working environment and has a capacity for initiative and decision making with competent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Plan International Uganda policies and procedures, Sphere Standards, Red Cross/ NGO code of conduct, and Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action.
  • Requires general finance, administration, information management and telecommunication skills and proficiency in information technology/ computer skills.
  • Integrity: Works with trustworthiness and integrity and has a clear commitment to Plan International Uganda’s core values and humanitarian principles.
  • Resilience/Adaptability and flexibility: Ability to operate effectively under extreme circumstances including stress, high security risks and harsh living conditions. Works and lives with a flexible, adaptable and resilient manner.
  • Awareness and sensitivity of self and others: Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to gender and diversity. Have experience and the ability to live and work in diverse cultural contexts in a culturally appropriate manner. Has a capacity to make accurate self – assessment particularly in high stress and high security contexts.
