Area of activity: GIZ has supported the Commission of the Economic Community of the West African States (ECOWAS) in its reform efforts since 2006. The ECOWAS cluster in Nigeria bundles six projects to support the economic community of West African countries ( ECOWAS ) in the areas of: peace, security, organizational development, trade and pandemic prevention. As a financial manager, you are particularly responsible for the commercial and financial support of a project. You also perform cross-sectional tasks in the financial management of the cluster. In close cooperation with the financial team of the ECOWAS cluster and the technical teams of the projects, you make a development-related contribution to promoting peace, social cohesion and sustainable economic growth in West Africa.The main focus of the activity is the advice and support of the “TZ Fund for Regional Stabilization and Development in fragile regions in ECOWAS member states” (FRSD).
Your tasks:
- Advice on the financial planning of the budgets and support of monitoring as well as handling of costs, expenses and receivables
- Advice on ongoing cash management including regular, meaningful reporting on project finances
- Support in using the “On site Operations” planning tool to integrate financial and operational planning
- Quality assurance regarding. Supply and procurement, including the creation of quantity scaffolding in the preparation of change offers and subsequent phases
- Process management and coordination between the responsible bodies as well as commercial advice on the creation, tracking and processing of financing contracts, including the analysis and evaluation of commercial processes in partner organizations, audits, etc.
- Coordination of administrative staff in Nigeria and the ECOWAS region
- Participation in the ECOWAS cluster financial team
Qualification & Experience:
- Completed studies in business administration, administrative sciences or comparable courses; alternatively completed commercial training with a focus on finance and controlling and several years of relevant professional experience
- Several years of relevant professional experience as well as proven competence in financial and contract management; Professional experience in developing or emerging countries is an advantage
- Commitment, gender competence and high teamwork
- Consulting competence, enjoyment of working with technical teams and proven intercultural competence
- High frustration tolerance and the ability to ensure the provision of services even under stress and time pressure
- Negotiable knowledge of German, English or French; Basic knowledge of the other language and willingness to expand language skills
