SFCG Job Vacancy 2022

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Program Associate and the Head of Office, Northeast Nigeria, the Program Assistant will be responsible for supporting the project team in developing and reviewing conflict-sensitive monthly and quarterly reports of activities implemented by the project team.  He/she shall ensure timely drafting, review and submission of all donor reports. The Project Assistant will be based in Maiduguri State to effectively support the UNICEF and project team in the northeast.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support the project team in the development of donor reports.
  • Support project team during activity implementation especially in developing draft activity reports to capture relevant details of the activities.
  • Organize periodic tutorials on the development of activity reports for the project team.
  • Support other project teams in the Northeast with writing and reviewing reports.
  • Review TORs, and relevant publications developed by the team
  • Support in the development and review of success stories emanating from project activities.
  • Organize and participate in workshops, needs assessments, consultations, planning sessions, and provide technical inputs as necessary.
  • Participate in start-up and closeout meetings and provide technical inputs, especially on reports and documentation relevant project documents.
  • Support in the organization and implementation of activities; assistance in the design and delivery of training and other support activities.
  • Conduct frequent supervision and monitoring visits to project areas and identify any issues needing attention related to implementation, compliance, and program quality standards.
  • Work closely with the project team to ensure the application of learnings and recommendations from external or internal reviews and feedback.
  • Fulfill any additional assignment as deemed necessary by the project team.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Peacebuilding, Development Studies or a related discipline (or equivalent experience);
  • At least 1 year experience of project implementation, including engagement with several actors – governments, community, and religious leaders, civil society, governments, specialist networks, etc.
  • A good understanding of the Northeast context, particularly in terms of key political, social and economic issues.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Ability to compose clear and concise sentences, with the correct spelling and use of words.
  • Good knowledge of the discourse on conflict dynamics in the northeast and the implications of development programming on security and security sector development, community security, human rights & conflict prevention, peacebuilding, and related issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a non-partisan manner, appreciating gender, cultural and ethnic diversity.
  • Ability to work individually, but also with experience of working effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively with attention to detail and an orderly approach to tasks.
  • Strong analytical skills, including drafting reports and briefings Must have a ‘hands-on’, practical mentality, be self-driven, and very motivated.
