Organizational Context: These jobs are found in Headquarters (HQ), Regional Bureaux (RBs) or Country Offices (COs) and report to a more senior Supply Chain Officer or Deputy Division/Country Director. Job holders at this grade level make definite contributions within the established policies and procedures. Job holders apply considerable knowledge derived from educational training and practical experience and exercise independent analysis for further reviews and decisions. At this grade level, staff receive supervision, but are able to work under broader instructions developing analytical tools and achieve outputs for effective supply chain execution. Job holders may also act as team leaders in smaller supply chain operations working closely and in coordination with the relevant stakeholders.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Engage in the end-to-end operational supply chain by coordinating the downstream delivery pipeline whilst ensuring last mile delivery to the Final Delivery/Distribution Point (FDP).
  • Contribute, in collaboration with the logistics upstream operations and resource management teams, to the operational resource pipeline planning through periodic forecast and analyses of resources to identify and address gaps early enough.
  • Monitor and analyze the evolving needs of the food requirements in terms of food basket and quantity and advise Area Office Management accordingly on the pipeline situation against each commodity.
  • Coordinate with the Programme team on the planned Food Release Notes (FRNs) for various activities.
  • Coordinate the call forwards from Logistics hubs for the Northeast operations, ensuring timely replenishment and mobilization of food.
  • Emergency preparedness and action – Act in an assigned emergency response capacity as required to meet emergency food assistance needs.
  • Coordinate the deployment of assets including logistics support equipment (LSE) based on availability to partners in the field.
  • Build and maintain productive partnerships with both internal and external counterparts amongst government and other local organizations, NGOs and private sector to exchange information and achieve the goal of cost-effective supply chain operations.
  • Continuously monitor the performance of partners’ supply chain operations to ensure that appropriate controls and systems are in place.
  • Embark on regular field visits for on-site logistics assessment of partners’ operations on the ground and providing informal training and support as necessary.

Qualification:

  • Advanced University degree in Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, Legal, Accounting, or other relevant field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of three years relevant professional experience is required in commercial or humanitarian transportation sectors, warehouse and commodity management, logistics and Supply Chain Management, data and costs management and analysis, working with vendors or other partners, working in insecure and difficult environments.
  • Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is an added advantage.
