Duties and Responsibilities
The purpose of the consultancy is to support the institution building of the NEC through providing technical assistance to the evolution of appropriate institutional branding and to initial civic and voter education materials requirements to strengthen the NEC’s capacity to engage in awareness raising and public outreach activities. Under the supervision of the UNMISS Principal Electoral Affairs Officer and working closely the Senior Electoral Graphics Design Specialist and with other advisors of the UN Integrated Electoral Assistance Team and relevant Commissioners and staff of the NEC, the consultant will assist the Senior Electoral Graphics Design Specialist in:
- The design of logos and layouts of branded materials, taking into consideration cultural references, and provide technical recommendations on branding.
- Work closely with relevant staff of NEC to review printing capacity in Juba and engage with relevant printing companies.
- Work with the NEC to assess the requirements for the production of civic/voter education materials for the pre-election period.
- Support the NEC in design and preparation for print production for initial branded and civic and voter education materials.
- Provide targeted assistance and technical support to design needs of the Political Parties Council.
Eligibility Criteria
Qualifications/ Special Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design and communication or related field is required.
- At least five (5) years of progressively responsible recent professional of experience in the fields of graphic design and offset printed productions with vast knowledge of related technical vocabulary is required.
- Knowledge in the use of graphic design and layout software (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Word), communication tools and printing processes is required.
- Experience in drawing and creation of educational illustrations taking into consideration cultural references is desirable.
Languages:
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position advertised, fluency in both oral and written English is required.
