Job purpose:

We are looking to hire an ICT Manager whose primary role will be to;

  • Work with the Senior IT Advisor and Global Operations Manager on the development and implement the Global ICT Policy, ensuring continuous alignment with Saferworld’s Strategic Plan.
  • Drive digital transformation
  • Work with the Senior IT Advisor on digitisation projects. Identify key Intelligent automation opportunities to apply in business processes and remote support.
  • Be responsible for maintaining, improving and documenting global ICT processes in line with ICT policies.
  • Provide high-quality 1st line ICT support to Saferworld employees globally.
  • Prepare and monitor a plan for ICT upgrades.
  • Maintain the inventory of all electronic assets.
  • Increase the adoption of standard processes and ways of working in Saferworld’s global offices
  • With the Senior IT Advisor and Global Operations Manager, develop appropriate policies and procedures, with particular emphasis on security and permissions.
  • Strategise with senior leadership teams to ensure all technology is appropriate, implemented, resilient and cost-efficient
  • Maintain and extend cyber security provisions to ensure systems receive Cyber Essentials Plus certification

Position in Organization:

  • Location: Kampala, Uganda
  • Reporting to: Global Operations Manager
  • Type of position: National, based in one of the Saferworld Offices (London, Nairobi, Kampala, Bishkek)
  • Grade and Salary: Grade F (In line with National Salary Grading)
  • Contract terms and hours: Full-time, Permanent 37.5 hours per week

Qualification:

  • A degree or higher-level IT qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience working in IT roles providing high-quality support in a busy environment.
  • Experience in managing IT projects from start to finish.
  • Experience configuring, operating and supporting the Office 365 collaboration suite (including Microsoft/Office 365, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, MS Forms, Planner, etc.) to administrator level.
  • Experience managing security products such as MFA, firewalls, disk encryption, antivirus platforms, email filters, etc.
  • Experience in training or providing guidance to end users on the use of Teams and other Office 365 products

Desirable Experience

  • Development of Microsoft Power Platform solutions (e.g., Power Automate, PowerBI, PowerApps).
  • Experience working with international organisations.
  • Project management experience, including defining IT requirements, comparing solutions, and producing business cases.

Skills and abilities

  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant software and hardware required to undertake this role.
  • Developed understanding of the current IT security landscape, ideally with a good understanding of the country specific challenges Saferworld may face.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, problem-solving attitude and approach.
  • Ability to liaise effectively in person and remotely with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures and act with credibility, tact and sensitivity.
  • A pro-active, can-do, value for money approach to get the job done in a positive and collaborative way.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of a second language would be an advantage.
