UNDP Job Vacancy 2023

Position Purpose: The Specialist on SDG Finance and South-South Cooperation will support the portfolio of work in the SDG Finance and South-South Cooperation team of ASFH, focusing on putting in place the Integrated National Financing Frameworks related agenda through the SDG Financing Strategies including key reforms on fiscal regimes, public budgeting, public and private investment, digital finance, monitoring and review of SDG financing, including through the set up of integrated financing dashboards. The specialist will also provide support to the expansion of the South-South and Triangular Cooperation agenda in the continent, particularly bringing on board the private investment dimension and the role of private sector. S/he will report to the SDG Finance and South-South Cooperation Regional Advisor of ASFH and work across the teams in the ASFH, the global Sustainable Finance Hub (SFH) team and the Regional Service Centre for Africa (RSCA), providing support to the Regional Bureau for Africa (RBA) Country Offices.

Eligibility Criteria

Education:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent, preferably in public policy, economics, finance, development studies, sciences or other related areas.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of Master’s degree.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years (Master’s Degree) or 7 years (Bachelor’s Degree) of professional experience in international development with a focus on development finance, investment promotion and cooperation, digital economy/finance, remittances, sustainable finance, and South-South cooperation.
  • Experience in providing policy and programmatic advisory support to UNDP, UN Country Teams, governments and development partners in Africa on SDG financing and South-South Cooperation is highly desirable.
  • Experienced in excellent research and analytical writing skills are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage events around sustainable finance, investment, and South-South Cooperation is required.
  • Experience working at global, regional or country level on Integrated National Financing Framework will be an asset
  • Experience in supporting programme or project development and management on SDG Finance is an advantage.
  • Working experience in the African region is an advantage.

Language:

  • Proficiency in oral and written English is required.
  • Proficiency in other UN languages is an asset.
