UNODC Job Vacancy 2021
Org. Setting and Reporting: This position is located within the Global Programme against Money Laundering, Proceeds of Crime and the Financing of Terrorism (GPML) of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The incumbent will be located in the UNODC Regional Office for Southern Africa (ROSAF) in Pretoria, South Africa, and will report to the UNODC Representative ROSAF as first reporting officer and the Programme Coordinator of GPML of UNODC, based in Vienna, Austria, as additional reporting officer. The work of the incumbent will be planned in consultation with the UNODC Representative, ROSAF.
Eligibility criteria:
Education:
- An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law or criminology is required. A first-level university degree or equivalent academic education, professional training with certification from a recognized international/national police, customs or other staff training institution, with specialization in criminal justice, crime prevention, criminal investigation, law enforcement, border management, border working techniques and/or other related areas in combination with additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Certification/recognized qualification in training design and delivery is an advantage.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of seven years of relevant progressively responsible professional experience in drug control activities, crime and/or terrorism prevention, law enforcement, prosecution, criminal justice, international relations, social or political affairs or related area relevant to UNODC’s mandate is required.
- Experience in project or programme development, management and administration is desirable.
- Working experience in technical assistance delivery and/or programme/project implementation in developing countries is desirable.
- Working experience in a financial intelligence unit is desirable.
- Working experience in the Southern African region is desirable.
Languages:
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
