Eligibility Criteria
Academic Qualifications:
- An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in economics, business administration, international relations, social science law, political science, international relations or criminology, and statistics is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
- At least five years of progressively responsible work experience in programme monitoring and evaluation is required.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and operating project M&E systems from project initiation to closeout stages is required.
- Experience in strategic planning and performance measurement, including indicator selection, target setting, reporting, database management, and developing M&E and performance monitoring plans is required.
- Knowledge of the major evaluation methodologies (e.g. qualitative, quantitative, mixed-method, and impact) and data collection and analysis methodologies is required.
- Ability to facilitate and serve as project liaison for externally-managed evaluations
- Experience working within Southern African region is desirable.
- Working experience in programmes funded by the European Union is desirable.
- Practical experience in developing countries is an asset. Knowledge of the UN work and operations is desirable.
Language:
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
