UNDP Job Vacancy 2023

Position Purpose: Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Resident Representative, the Gender Specialist will support more effective alignment of UNDP programming with the dimensions of gender equality and in building institutional mechanisms for gender mainstreaming in the Country Office such as through the Gender Equality Seal and Gender Markers. This position will build the CO capacity to elevate and integrate gender equality into all aspects of UNDP’s work and better communicate gender results in its corporate results reporting and to various external audiences.  This role includes effective participation and representation in various dialogue platforms involving the UN System, donors, government, civil society, and the private sector.   The Gender Specialist will contribute to the effective tracking of gender related results.

Qualification & Experience:

• Master’s Degree or equivalent in Gender Studies, Development Studies, International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, Economics, or related field.
• A minimum of five years’ relevant professional experience in planning, design and implementation of programmes and projects with a strong demonstrable gender focus, including experience in application of the logical framework, other strategic planning approaches;
• Extensive experience in driving organizational or national initiatives on sensitive issues such as Sexual Gender Based Violence, Sexual Harassment/Sexual Exploitation and Abuse;
• Substantial experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of gender projects;
• Experience working at national and sub-national levels on national development issues an asset;
• Experience working with UNDP, other UN entities, donor organizations or development organizations is an asset;
