WorldFish Job Vacancy 2023

Job Description: Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of the WorldFish Senior Scientist based in Lusaka the Research Analyst (RA) will provide assistance in carrying out literature reviews, data collection and cleaning, analysis and scientific writing under the Programme for Improving Fisheries Governance and Blue Economy Trade Corridors (PROFISHBLUE) project. The Research Analyst will also be involved in field activities as well as other administrative tasks around the office. Through this experience, she/he will learn about the types of data generated in fisheries and aquaculture, how to utilize this data to implement quality research and write publishable papers and reports. The Research Analyst will be required to work long hours including weekends when need arises.

Qualification & Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in animal/Fish genetics, Aquaculture, Fisheries, Agri-Business or related field. A PhD in Aquaculture or related program will be added advantage.
  • At least two (02) years of research experience in aquaculture research with emphasis in genetics.
  • Hands on experience in genetic improvement programs and associated activities including Fish tagging, family production, tissue sampling and processing for downstream genetic analyses.
