Duties and Responsibilities:

The main purpose of the job is to assist the Project Engineer in the following ways

1. Provide support to the procurement process on infrastructure process at different stages

• Ensure that all the technical inputs and cost estimates of construction projects and budgets are accurate and provided in a timely manner;
• Support the PSM in all tender processes for the procurement of contractors and professional consultancy services including development of TORs (Terms of Reference), participating in evaluation, and responding to bidders and procurement approving authority queries;
• Advise on the national legal requirements and procedures, international standards applicable construction works.

Qualification:

• High school completion /secondary level education with diploma in Civil Engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field is desirable.

Experience

• Minimum seven (7) years for secondary level education or four (4) years for Bachelor’s degree holder of professional experience in construction works management, including specific experience in public infrastructure;
• Excellent analytical skills and sectoral expertise relevant to civil construction;
• Proven knowledge of national regulations regarding management of construction projects is required;
• Ability to successfully perform field/site supervision duties and desk reviews and analyses;
• Good communication skills – both written and verbal; experience of writing project reports is a must;
• Experience from similar assignments (as site engineer, construction contract manager).

Languages

• Fluency in written and spoken English;
• Basic working knowledge of Shona and/or Ndebele would be an asset.
