IGCP was formed in 1991 to address the long-term conservation of the mountain gorilla (Gorilla beringei beringei) and its regional Afromontane Forest habitat in the Virunga Bwindi Landscape. Our aim has been to work together as a single gorilla conservation program in order to expand and consolidate the successes of the Mountain Gorilla Project and other initiatives at a regional level.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Curating relevant content to reach the organisation’s ideal stakeholders.
  • Creating, curating, and managing all published content (images, video and written).
  • Conducting online advocacy.
  • Developing and expanding community and/or blogger outreach efforts.
  • Overseeing design (i.e. Facebook Timeline cover, profile pictures, thumbnails, ads, landing pages, Twitter profile and blog)
  • Helping compile reports for management showing results.
  • Documenting of projects which includes producing write-ups for pamphlets and developing good case studies to showcase the organisation’s work.
  • Supporting the development of tools for documenting and publicizing the organisation’s interventions.
  • Planning and designing internal and external strategies for communications outreach facilitating the development/production of communication, information, and knowledge-sharing materials/instruments.
  • Identifying priority themes and developing advocacy messages, news features, case studies and other communication materials for dissemination through various media.
  • Helping develop, implement, and monitor fundraising strategies to meet the costs of the current and future programmes
  • Approaching and raising funds from companies, trusts, partners/donors, banks and foundations within Zimbabwe and abroad.
  • Facilitating co-financing opportunities for partner organisations.
  • Raising awareness of the organisation and its work at the Country and National levels.
  • Developing and coordinating web-based (crowdfunding included) fundraising.
  • Assisting in the preparation of project proposals for corporate and other funding agencies.
  • Ensuring all partners receive appropriate and timely reports and updates.
  • Producing communication materials in support of fundraising such as brochures, appeals, and newsletters.
  • Developing all media, publicity, marketing and fundraising messages and the communication material around them.
